8M will be a success. Be that as it may.

8 March calala
In 2020 we support 73 women's groups who are working every day so that we all have the power to decide the life we want.

We will make ourselves visible, whether in the streets, on balconies or in the networks.

It is a key moment for our voices to be heard, when the whole world is forced to turn its head in our direction.

There are many uncertainties in the organisation of this key day, and there are also many difficulties for women to flood the streets: bans on demonstrations, pandemics, job insecurity? But this will not stop us from making ourselves visible, however we do it, in the streets, on balconies or on the networks, with the same care as always.

For a year we have been resisting a pandemic in which cases of male violence have increased to unthinkable levels. Caring for each other from a distance and trying to support the people who are most affected by the consequences of this crisis. A year of numerous virtual assemblies and activities, managing to be coordinated throughout the state thanks to the network that the feminist movement has been weaving for years. One year persisting so that this exceptional situation does not lead to further violation of rights.

In 2020 we will support 73 groups in Central America and Spain.

In 2020 we supported 73 groups in Central America and Spain made up of diverse women: women experiencing gender-based violence, migrants, racialised women, domestic workers, refugees, women defenders and activists, transgender women, sex workers; women who since the pandemic began are sustaining the lives of many people as well as their own.

8M is a key moment for our voices to be heard, when the whole world is forced to turn its head towards us. Join our “Viva mi feminismo!” campaign and receive your activist pack: face mask and balcony banner.

As every year, Calala defends the right to participate in the different protest actions and to continue taking care of ourselves. This year with special attention to take all the necessary precautions to be together and safe in the public space.

Calala is the only women's fund in Spain. We support the women's organisations that make up the feminist movement through donations, capacity building and networking. Every year they call on us to celebrate 8 March in the streets, but they work every day so that we all have the power to decide the life we want.
