The women we supported were already facing violence that put their lives and dignity at risk. The pandemic only aggravated it.

We have been working for the sustainability of women's movements for years., We have been working for the protection of women defenders and activists, against the precariousness and poverty of migrant women, for putting collective care into practice and countering hate speech. Realities that were already in front of our eyes, and that the pandemic has only underpinned.

From March onwards we let all the groups we supported know that we were close, and that we understood all the changes that might appear in their projects. We were able to expand the funds provided and make our resources as flexible as possible. to make them available to the groups so that they could meet the needs arising from the pandemic.

The situation also led us to increasing care within the organisation. So we reduced our working hours between May and August to recover from the intense work during the confinement. And with the support of Prospera, an international network of women's funds to which we belong, we carried out a risk analysis for the coming years, which are expected to be tough due to the economic crisis that will hit many countries.

  • We donated 114.355,65€ to the resistance funds of 39 women's organisations. to cover basic needs and establish legal, psychological and emotional support networks. Click here to access the online meeting we held to support them.
  • 85,000 to 7 migrant women's organisations in Spain who accompanied hundreds of women who have experienced male violence, through collective empowerment. Find out about them here
  • We support 10 groups of domestic workers and carers in Spain which, together with others, succeeded in getting the government to approve an extraordinary subsidy for them in the face of the pandemic.
  • We promote a analysis together with more than 50 migrant women's organisations to find out how best to contribute to their strengthening and needs.
  • In Central America, we awarded three scholarships which they used to strengthen their capacities in digital activism and to participate in a diploma course on healing, dissident bodies and sexualities.

Publications

In addition to the provision of grants, training opportunities and networking, we promote research that helps women's organisations in their work to advocate for real equality.

Now, it's your turn

In the midst of the pandemic, we dared to celebrate. To honour the networks of solidarity among women who, far from being paralysed by fear, have been able to find collective strategies to take care of themselves and survive in a resilient way. It is part of building a world in which we all have the power to decide about our lives.
