“I want tosupport the search for the necessary resources to enable women to advance in their empowerment, leadership and autonomy”.”
I grew up thinking that women were love, courage and endurance.
I am the eldest of three sisters, the daughter of a single mother and migrant, the granddaughter of a tireless and feisty grandmother. I grew up thinking of women as love, courage and resistance. That is why, collaborating today in Calala is a wonderful opportunity to show my gratitude and admiration for them and for all those women who have contributed to my success., The project was launched in the context of a beautiful but difficult country such as Colombia.
The first five years of my professional life I worked with companies from different sectors, carrying out corporate communication and marketing plans and actions. I learned a lot and met great people along the way, who have undoubtedly nurtured my professional profile. But something was missing. I lacked the feeling that my work could have a greater sense of social responsibility and collective consciousness.. Thus, I began to envision the third sector as an ideal scenario to achieve this. For more than five years I have been working with social organisations and solidarity projects related to children, education, disability and feminism.
Communication is a very powerful tool, which is why I am passionate about working with it and exploring new avenues.
I believe that communication is a very powerful tool for all people and organisations. That is why I am passionate about working with it and explore new ways to generate a synchronised dance between listening, dialogue and reciprocity; a movement that drives transformations and understanding. In short, I am motivated to bring those who seek closer to those who find.
I combine my passion for what I do with my love for travelling, for learning other languages, for tasting other dishes? To hear other voices and opinions that make me realise how large and yet small the world is, when I discover, through contact and dialogue, that all people are equal. Some more privileged than others but, at the end of the day, equal in their humanity and greatness.
I want to provide sources of dissemination and visibility for the projects of women mobilising for human rights.
As Calala's Director of Communications and Fundraising, and as a Latin American migrant woman, I want to contribute my grain of sand so that all those women who mobilise for human rights, to participate in safe activist movements, for gender equality and for their reproductive rights, can continue to do so. To provide sources of dissemination and visibility for their projects, articulate collaborations or alliances and support the search for the necessary resources that will enable women to advance their empowerment, leadership and autonomy, just as I dream for myself.
Finally, I would like to invite you to celebrate your feminism by becoming a Calala donor here. In order for Calala to move forward and continue to support women's movements and collectives, it needs everyone's support. It is vitally important to continue funding movements working for justice and women's rights.
