Anna Domínguez, new Programme Area colleague in Barcelona
“I'm the kind of person who likes to make things happen. To do it together with a diverse team that transmits strength, self-care and empathy is a pleasure!”
I arrive at Calala with a small backpack and a great desire to continue filling it with learning.
I have been able to see a bit of the world, to work with different organisations, but always for shorter periods of time. Young women don't have it easy these days, and for that reason, I feel fortunate today.
My main responsibility in Calala will be the management of projects in which, together with other feminist organisations, I will create resources and tools in the field of online violence against women. In times like these, where relationships and information are undergoing an exponential process of digitalisation, the women's movement sees the need to analyse these new forms of male violence and act against them. That is why I find it a challenge to be part of it and to experience it from so close to home.
I have always enjoyed managing projects, but what better if they are feminist! I have been growing for years with feminism, which has helped me to put a name to my reality and to fight for more justice on a daily basis. Today Calala offers me the opportunity to bring this struggle to my work as well, and to meet other very powerful and inspiring networks and projects. And to do it together with a team that transmits strength, self-care, empathy, and a lot of diversity and richness, what a pleasure!
It is very important for me to take time to take care of myself.
Whether it's reading, doing yoga or pilates, watching a movie, or being with my people. I also travel when I have the opportunity, although I am in the process of looking for more sustainable ways to do so.
I am one of those who like to organise and plan, and make things work and move forward; Resolute, empathetic, patient (although sometimes impatient), sociable but also homely. Feminism is also helping me to become stronger, to listen to and accept myself more, to channel anger and to get rid of guilt when it haunts us.
I start this adventure in Calala with a lot of desire to do things forward, with determination, where I will give the best of me and fill my backpack with sharing and learning a little more.
Finally, for Calala to move forward and continue to provide resources to feminist movements and collectives, it needs everyone's support. It is vitally important to continue funding movements fighting for justice and women's rights!
