We Are Here Campaign
We launched the Estamos Aquí campaign to give a voice to migrant women in Spain, who face racism, sexist violence and labour problems. 15% of women in Spain are migrants, many in precarious conditions. The campaign includes an initial video and four capsules with personal stories. The initiative seeks to raise awareness of their struggles and highlight the work of the organisations that support them. More details on this link.

We Are Here for Equal Rights also for migrant women

On 5 May we launched the campaign We are here to give visibility to different stories of migrant women, told by their own voice. Women who have a lot to tell and teach, thanks to their dignity, strength and desire to move forward. Many of them experience problems such as racism, gender violence, lack of labour rights and lack of economic autonomy.

Approximately, 15% of women living in Spain are migrants. Legislation and various structural barriers mean that these women face obstacles in accessing regular migration status, validating their studies or finding jobs in line with their careers. Many are employed as domestic and care workers, a precarious sector that denies them basic rights such as social security contributions for pensions, unemployment benefits or holidays. In addition, many of them face racist attitudes and discrimination in their daily lives.

The campaign 1TP5WeAreHere is made up of an initial video in which some of the migrant women invited to tell their stories are presented, accompanied by other women who are their support and accompaniment network in the face of the difficulties they encounter. This video is recorded in different cities in Spain to show that they are here and that they should be taken into account and offered dignified treatment at a state and social level.

In addition to the launch video, four more videos will be published periodically on our social networks, with the stories of Alba, Fran, Nora and Dalila. They are capsules with a maximum duration of 3 minutes in which they tell us in their own words what their situation is, what their struggles and dreams are, as migrant women who have had to leave their countries for various reasons, often unintentionally, as is the case with refugee human rights defenders.
