COPINH
COPINH is the Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organisations of Honduras (Consejo Cívico de Organizaciones Populares e Indígenas de Honduras), based in the department of Intibucá, struggle in defence of the environment, the Lenca indigenous culture and to improve the living conditions of the region's population. Its coordinator, Berta Cáceres, was assassinated in 2016 for her work as a human rights defender.
Together with other international organisations, we provided funds to support the mobilisations and the attendance of family members and members of COPINH at the trial for the Berta's murder. Each day of the trial they stood before the hearing and with our funds they were able to cover transport, accommodation and meals for all the days they were there.
