Digital care for feminist activists

CiberfemLab and Técnicas Rudas, with the support of Calala, are launching the course “Digital care for feminist activists”. This virtual course, aimed at activists, defenders and journalists, explores structural violence in TRICs and offers tools on digital security and technological autonomy. Starting on 18 April and ending on 27 June, the course covers topics such as online gender-based violence, digital care and risk analysis. Register before 8 April to secure your place.

CiberfemLab y Rough Techniques with the support of the Calala Women's Fund, create the virtual course “Digital care for feminist activists”,  with the aim of reflecting, from a technopolitical perspective, on the structural violences that exist in the development and use of the TRICs (Relationship, Information and Communication Technologies).

This course is aimed at: feminist activists linked to women's, feminist or LGBTQI+ rights collectives, women human rights defenders and community communicators and journalists.

For 2 months, every week, participants will have access to content on online gender-based violence, digital safety basics and risk analysis. Interested persons should fill in this registration form, remember that places are limited.

 The course will start on Monday 18 April  culminating in the 27 June and will have the following schedule of content:

Session 1: Technopolitics I (Date: 18/April)

Content:

  1. Introduction to the course and topics.
  2. Cyberfeminisms, transhackfeminisms and feminist digital activism.
  3. History of where cyberfeminism emerges and the forms it takes in different territories.
  4. Data colonialism and code discrimination.

Session 2: Technopolitics II (Date: 25/April)

Content:

  1. Digital care with a holistic perspective.
  2. Internet infrastructure and communication monopolies.

 

Session 3: Gender-based violence I (Date: 2/May)

Content

  1. Male violence online - Widespread misinformation.
  2. #EsVirtualEsReal, online violence and COVID19.

 

Session 4: Autonomy and Technological Sovereignty I (Date: 9/May)

Content:

  1. Technological Autonomy and Sovereignty.
  2. Projects working along these lines: radio.

 

Synchronous session 1 (Date: week of 16 May)

Session 5: Digital Security I (Date: 23/May)

Content:

  1. Digital vulnerabilities
  2. Definition Digital care.
  3. Protection framework and general strategies

 

Session 6: Digital Security II (Date: 30/May)

Content:

  1. Risk analysis
  2. Technological ecosystems.
  3. Tools

 

Synchronous session 2 (Date: week of 6 June)

Session 7: Digital Security III (Date: 13 June)

Content:

  1. Documenting our risks.
  2. Protocols

 

Session 8: Day-to-day strategies (Date: 20 June)

Final synchronous session (Date: week of 27 June)
