Programmes Spain
Joyful Rebellion

We are committed to decoloniality, an approach that seeks to challenge and dismantle oppressive power structures between the Global North and the Global South.

We work in Spain with migrant women's collectives from Abya Yala (Latin America), Afros and Gypsies, who focus on resisting and confronting racism and macho violence, while at the same time reclaiming and recognising the knowledge of ancestral cultures.

Our commitment
  • Decoloniality: We support initiatives that challenge current narratives and power structures between the Global North and the Global South.

  • Fight against racism and violence against women: we contribute to groups that strongly oppose racism and violence against women.

  • Vindication of ancestral knowledge: we promote the recognition and valorisation of the ancestral knowledge of indigenous communities.

Biznegra logo

Biznegra

It was born in January 2020 from the need to have in Malaga a Afro-centred space where care was present as a feminist collective. Sand was inspired by a Biznaga, the endemic flower of Malaga. which is composed of white jasmine. In this version, the biznaga is black and has an afro comb in the centre; it is a reappropriation of a symbol black people are constantly excluded from the narratives and imaginary of Spain and, especially (and more worryingly), Andalusia. Thus,  the black biznaga represents collectivity and negritude. This collective is supported by African and Afro-descendant women living in Andalusia.
