In Calala we know that these times of confinement and confinement are a challenge to our mental stability, but also to our economic stability. We are also concerned about social control measures and the repercussions this has for the feminist movement. That is why we want to support a collective care in which we support emerging initiatives, and contribute to self-care of all of us, to sustain us in this time.
In this way, we share the manual with you: “Physical, emotional and digital self-care in times of pandemic: practices and resources”.” which has been prepared by Daniela Fontaine, our Collective Care Officer.
This resource is inspired by what other compañeras have done before, from different latitudes, traditions and worldviews. We know that these are times of fear and uncertainty; that many are in vulnerable situations; and that for many it is a difficult time to be away from home and loved ones. We hope that some of these recommendations will bring you closer to your families, bring warmth to your body and bring you peace of mind.
Emotional, physical and digital wellbeing
The handbook is divided into three sections: Emotional, physical and digital wellbeing with the intention of addressing this crisis in a holistic way. We know that there are areas to be covered, so we look forward to continuing to share practices and update this handbook. We call for solidarity to permeate these times; and we trust that we will come out of this stronger and more united.
In addition, we will soon be announcing the date of the discussion: “Self-care for women human rights defenders in times of pandemic”.” which we have organised together with Oaxaca Consortium, the organisation in charge of the Casa de Respiro of the Mesoamerican Women Human Rights Defenders Initiative (IM-Defensoras).
