Urgent fundraising action
Calala Women's Fund is raising funds to send to the women colleagues in the Ukrainian Women's Fund and the Polish Feminist Fund who are working on the ground to support displaced and refugee women and children.
Since the conflict began on 24 February, more than 3.8 million people have fled Ukraine and the number is growing every day. Before the Russian military offensive, there was already an internally displaced population displaced by the armed conflict that has been going on for more than 8 years. This population is being displaced for the second time.
The majority of the displaced population are women and children, arriving exhausted at the borders with Poland and other neighbouring countries with the few belongings they have been able to take with them, on journeys that are being made mainly by train or on foot.
The funds raised will be used to support this population, women's networks that are working to meet their needs across the country, and to support feminist organisations in Poland that are hosting women and girls, with a special focus on LBTI women.
Calala has been working together with these two funds for 10 years, strengthening the feminist and women's, lesbian and transgender movement, within the International Network of Women's Funds, Prospera. We show our solidarity with our feminist comrades and all the Ukrainian population who are suffering the consequences of the war and also with the Ukrainian women who are suffering the consequences of the war.
