What is FemBloc and what is Calala's role?

For years, feminist experts such as Laia Serra, Alex Hache, and collectives such as Donestech, Pikara Magazine, the Feminist Self-Defence Network together with the support from Calala as a resource provider, have been researching and denouncing gender-based violence in the digital sphere. Their research includes:

From this previous effort is created FemBloc, with the aim of developing a model for tackling digital male violence at the Catalan level through a digital hotline and a series of actions and tools associated with an intersectional perspective. The FemBloc support line will be implemented through a pilot during the year 2022, The lessons learned and recommendations will be used to continue building the feminist and safe approach model.

We presented it at the Forum against gender-based violence.

On 4, 5 and 6 November, Catalonia will be holding the Forum against Gender Violence, organised by the Plataforma Unitària Contra les Violències Masclistes. Within this framework, the project FemBloc will be presented in two different spaces. On the 4th, expert Alex Haché will take part in the round table discussion “Digital gender-based violence: The virtual is real”.”.

The day 5 from 16 to 18h will be made a workshop-presentation, at the Francesca Bonnemaison space in Barcelona. We will talk about the project, its background, objectives and main actions. The main challenges of the project will be shared, and a space for reflection will be generated around the digital male violence and how to address it. Finally, we will open the space for receive proposals and feedback for the project and the FemBloc support line.
