Far Gàmbia Association

Far Gàmbia Association is a association founded in Vic in 2022, led by migrant, Afro-descendant and local women. The organisation works for the defending the rights of women and girls from an approach feminist, anti-racist and intersectional.

Among its main lines of action are the prevention of female genital mutilation (FGM), the accompanying survivors and the impetus of community and intercultural actions developed in both Catalonia as in Gambia, strengthening transnational care, protection and social justice networks.

About the RADIX-supported project

Consolidate to resist: Far Gàmbia, roots and strength that sustain us.

Consolidating in order to resist: Far Gàmbia, roots and strength that sustain us is a project promoted by the Far Gàmbia Association which aims to strengthening its organisational structure by incorporating two key figures: a administrative support and communication technician and a technical coordinator.

This consolidation will allow define internal roles, improving organisational management and access to finance, systematise processes y professionalising a task which until now has been mainly supported by the volunteering. The impact of the project will be direct advocacy for the rights of women, girls and LGTBIAQ+ persons, and strengthening the community actions in Catalonia.
