We have been supporting women's and feminist movements in Spain since 2012.

In 2012 Calala Fondo de Mujeres started to support women's and feminist movements in Spain. Since then, the main focus has been to contribute to the strengthening of the migrant women's movement. Between 2016 and 2019, 74 % of the resources we delivered in Spain went to migrant women's organisations.

But we wanted to know how best to contribute to the strengthening of the movement., We commissioned an analysis for this, which resulted in the publication “Approach to the migrant women's movement in Spain”.

What issues do they work on, what are their strengths and challenges, what strategies do they use?

The analysis was carried out by Adriana Zumarán, a decolonial feminist activist and researcher born in Peru and based in Madrid. The analysis was based on a tool developed by the Global Women's Fund to assess the capacities of a social movement. More than 50 organisations from different territories in Spain were involved and an Advisory Group made up of 17 of these organisations supported the project.

In the publication you can learn about some of the milestones of this movement, the main issues they are working on and the strategies they are using, the particularities of the different territories, and the main strengths and challenges identified.

We hope that this document will be of use, above all, to the movement of migrant and racialised women in Spain, It is they who have generously shared their visions and contributions with us and who, of course, must lead the changes they want to achieve.
