The online feminist gathering of women human rights defenders and migrant activists “For the Rights of All” was held on Sunday 13 December, as part of an online feminist project funded by the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation and the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation, and with the collaboration of different Basque entities.
The date of the event was conceived in the context of the reflection provided by the International Human Rights Day (10 December) and the International Migrants Day (18 December).
This meeting is one more step in the work of articulation and strengthening of alliances that different groups of migrant women organised in the Basque Country are carrying out in connection with the Spanish state and with women's rights defenders in Mesoamerica. It consisted of a space open to everyone with a very specific agenda: to exchange strategies, form alliances and make activist work more visible in order to better face the challenges faced by human rights activists in the Basque Country and the world.
The need to continue to articulate, care for and nurture each other in order to create ever more egalitarian societies
This is a living process, which adapts to the circumstances in which we find ourselves. as individuals. Along the way, the pandemic has presented itself as an amplifier of pre-existing vulnerabilities and inequalities. Thus, activists' strategies have once again been regenerated in new ways.
